gmail.com on behalf of [mydomain.com]
One user should not be in our network but should have email address like others in our domain.
I have tried make an email account on gmail.com for the user and substitute xxxx@gmail.com to zzzz@mydomain.com through gmail | Settings | Accounts | Send mail as: |
Everything was fine but the field “form” kept “xxxx@gmail.com on behalf of [zzzz@mydomain.com]“. This was not look good for muggles and I did not find how to solve that, eventually, I had to play with MS Exchange settings.
Finally, I found the solution for that task without gmail.com and that is pity. :)
This is not the problem of the Gmail, but rather MS Outlook. Gmail sends two headers – “From:” and “Sender:”. One has the real address, another – the cover up address. MS Outlook shows both of these in the form “From on behalf of Sender”. Other email clients don’t do this. However you can always see both addresses in the headers.
If you use Google Apps for your domain, than you don’t have this problem. However that means that you’ll have to transfer the whole domain over to Gmail.
How I understood only MX recorde shoud contains google.com
Yes, when you enable Google Apps for your domain, you have to change your DNS records (including MX) to point to Google servers. They’ll give you the administration though to manage your stuff – create users, change passwords, and such. It’s pretty cool for small businesses.
I think differently, I will check and tell you.
